This enlarged, four-part heart model allows for easy identification of all structures and is ideal for anatomy lessons in large groups. The model also helps students to understand the external shape and internal structure of the heart, and the relationship between the large blood vessels in and out of the heart and blood circulation.
Internal Structure – the main display of four heart chambers:
- The right atrium shows the pectinate muscle of the right atrial ear, and the openings of the superior tricuspid valve, inferior vena cava and coronary sinus along the margin of the right atrioventricular orifice
- The right ventricle shows the semilunar valve of the pulmonary artery at the exit of the pulmonary artery, the flesh column of the tendinous cord, the flesh column of the papillary muscle, and the diaphragmatic margin
- The left atrium shows the pectinate muscle of the left atrial ear, the opening of four pulmonary veins, and the mitral valve at the margin of the left atrioventricular orifice
- The left ventricle shows the aortic semilunar valve at the aortic outlet, the outlet of the coronary artery, the chordae tendinae, the sarcosus, and the papillary muscle
- In addition, there is an atrial septum between the left and right atria, an ovular fossa above, and an interventricular septum between the left and right ventricles, showing membranous and muscular parts above the septum
Features:
- The front heart wall and right auricular appendix are removable to depict anatomical structures
- Epicardial membrane was removed to show the direction of myocardial fibers and the cardiac vortex
- Also shows superior vena cava and the aorta
- Can be rotated horizontally on its base This enlarged, four-part heart model allows for easy identification of all structures and is ideal for anatomy lessons in large groups.
